The brief

We were asked by Intel to create a social campaign to celebrate 40 years of Computing Magazine, which the brand was sponsoring. The objective? A trending hashtag and surge in followers on Twitter.

The work

An interactive timeline of topical IT milestones featuring events from 40 years ago and predictions on the biggest developments yet to come.

Slick, stylish, and executed with wit, the timeline was launched with an animation at events and on social media. As conversations started to happen, we asked people to vote for their favourite milestone, with the most popular ones increasing in size on the timeline as each vote rolled in.

To vote, people had to tweet the moment to their followers using the campaign hashtag. We then staged the release of the tweets to encourage trending.

The result

A [top 5] trending hashtag, 15,000 new Twitter followers and a delighted client.
